Reversed down a steep slope – at the bottom clutch would not engage in forward – no obvious clutch material evident– feels like something may have got stuck in between somewhere – Fingers etc moving partially but not enough to engage clutch-
Anyone experienced similar?
Did your clutch have a decent amount of "snap" to engage prior to going down the hill? Have you tried to adjust it?
Check the gear shift interlock system, linkages etc, should only be able to change gear selection while clutch disengaged, possible selector without enough movement to allow clutch to engage to drive?
Hi,
if not already done and me thinking outside the box here, maybe remove the left floor/foot plate to check for a stick or similar that has come up under it when reversing and is restricting the clutch vertical control shaft lever under there.
Stranger things have happened.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
Eddie: That actually makes a lot of sense! JM

Fitted stick rake – seven hours use day before – when forward down the slope realising stick rake is foot lower – reversed back up slewed around and reversed down – once over the point of balance use brakes – No abnormal operation of clutch and have tried adjustment-problem is clutch lever wont go back far enough to move fingers more than a few millimeters or go into the lock position

It's a D23J – the clutch seems to me to be separate from any of the gear shifting mechanisms –if that's not the case appreciate further insight

Initially removed footplate with similar thought – alas no luck – thank you very much and i cant help but think a similar type problem exists-
Hannahp, in my parts book form 6700 D2 3J1 to 3J5000, page 112 drawing 14279, 3J1 to 3J3036, shows something like a shaft/pin that rotates as the clutch is applied to hold or jam selector rods to stop forks shifting, it would seem it is on the far end of the linkage system basically it is on the far side of the vertical clutch arm that operates the yoke/fork. Check to see if the clutch will give full travel and snap in when in neutral selection, if not it would be something to do with clutch alone, if snaps in it will be clutch/lock out linkage system causing issue I would suspect, most likely due to wear possibly a work linkage eye and/or pin. The last linkage has a spring inside it so im guessing it is for low pressure force to hold rotating pin/lever pushes against plungers 4B3728 and spring 4B7033 in the bracket assembly 4B3756 that selector rods pass thru. Hopefully only a pin that is half way out and jamming on something.
