D2 Digging

Well team, I checked the D2 over this am, changed the oil in the finals after building a couple of wrenchs to pull the plugs then proceeded down into my lower pasture to clean out the creek. We're under drought conditions so the creek should have been dry! :flypig:It mainly was except for the one spot I really wanted to clean out and I proceeded to get stuck! The minute I went in I knew it was an "OH S#$%" Nose down in mud the consistancy of a chocolate milk shake. Anyway I winched it out, cleaned the rest of the creek and about 1/3 acre of willow trees and scrub. She ran real good,plenty of power and smoooth! right hand steering clutch still hasn't broken loose. A winter project, Under full load (Dirt and trees above the top of the blade) the clutch slips a little I'll adjust it a couple of clicks forward. My wife isn't home today so I don't have any pictures, and I'm not coordinated enough to run the machine and take pictures

Anyway a good day! AH! the smell of diesel and fresh turned dirt.We're probably the only group of folks that figures fresh dirt under the finger nails is perfume!

There's always something you can do, even in a drought! Not so sure about a prolonged wet spell, maybe work on machines in the shop.

After reading your well written story I don't need the pictures - I could smell the diesel & earth in the written word.

But if you get some pictures be sure and post them, though.

Hi Dennie......sounds like you had a really good time today. Like Bill Glenn said you can smell the dirt and diesel. I hope to get to have some play time soon. I am about 75% done with the kitchen and laundry room remodel so it won't be long...😊

Good story, Dennie. Around here, fresh dirt seems to attract the deer like almost nothing else. Every time I work something up they always show up later that night and leave lots of scuffs and tracks in the freshly turned soil. I kind of look forward to strolling out the next day just to see where they've been, it's another one of the good things about living out in the country.:amen:

Bill I got our kitchen and bath 90% done about a year ago, I just finished them up in July. Our flooring work is really busy now, I did 22 details last week alone (measure for quote) So yesterday was the first day in a while I've been able to do "my" thing Played in the dirt, fixed my sons 4 wheeler, got some welding done I had laying around. (I'm mister fixit for all the neighbor hood kids)
Thanks to all for the kind comments. The skinned knuckles are all worth it when you can take something that didn't work and make it well.
I'll get pictures next time might be a good excuse for a video camara with grandkids and all.
