Well I have some good news on the generator on my D2. My original thoughts were it was not any good but the output seems to be okay so I am having it disassembled at the generator shop to see if anything is borderline of giving trouble. If all goes well I will need to get a 6 volt regulator. The generator is a Delco # 1102734 which I believe to be a 6 volt 18amp. I only intend to run the lights which are 6 volt. Any thoughts on a part number for a 6 volt regulator and a wiring diagram would be helpful. I am hoping this is the cost effective way to get the lights working.

Thanks.....Bill

There are two models of regulators used with that generator:
Cat # 8F3335 which is a Delco # 1118377 and
Cat # 1L3468 which is a Delco # 1118873

Replacement 6v negative ground regulators are getting hard to find.

OM....I was cruising E-bay/internet websites and saw there are several 6 volt regulators for sale at a wide swing in prices. You said there are two for that generator so I am assuming regulators are made to match the generator. I have limited knowledge about generators/regulators so other than the obvious of matching output what is there to look for when matching the two together?Trying to learn a bit here so please be patient with me.... 😊

Thats why I made the statement about negative ground....most those tractor units on the internet are positive ground. Other than that they just need to have the same terminal arrangements and at least the required amperage capacity.

OM....I understand the positive and negative ground and found several negative ground ones but not the same number. After checking a bit deeper I saw the amp output was not right on. A couple were close at around 25 amp and not the 18 amp the generator shows as spec. Does it have to be dead on the generator rating ? I will look at the old regulator and see what terminals were there and use the Cat parts book I have as well.
I'm learning...though slowly.... 😊

The amperage doesn't have to be right on, just have enough capacity for the amperage use. 25amp for an 18 amp usage would be ok. If you get to high in capacity it may not be sensitive enough at a lower rating. If you can I'd try and find a NOS Delco unit or other USA make. There is a lot of overseas crap flooding the automotive electrical market and it's none to reliable

OM....you are so very right about the C.C.C. (Cheap Chineses Crap) as we call it here. I have found some NOS Delco stuff and it just takes a while to sift through. Maybe I will get lucky.
Thanks a lot for your help.......Bill
