The clutch pinion bearing grease fitting on my d2 was broken off. I found a center punch laying in the bottom of the bell housing. someone had tried to get broken zerk out. I tried everything to back the broken piece out but I think I will have to get more room to work. what is evolved in taking the cast cover off the top of the bell housing? how does the cover come off the clutch throw out pivot shaft. does shaft stay in housing or what? Its a electric start model so I know the battery platform with have to come off the only thing I am not sure about is the clutch throw out pivot shaft. it looks like it has a spring on it under pre load.

Ya you can remove the cover. just remove the bolt from the shaft clamp and tap a chisel in between the clamp and lift the cover over, [of coarse remove the bolts holding the cover].

oops I forgot the shaft has a key in it. so remove the clamp and the key then lift the cast cover off.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
