I've searched my operation manual and parts handbook for my D2 4U2xxx for the CAT p/n of the gaskets for brake inspection hole plates. Cannot find, nor searching this site. I plan to just make my own replacements but no sure what material to use.

Mine are well oil soaked but seem pretty thick. At first I thought it was made from cork material but when you bend it, it looks more like a thicker version of the standard paper fiber gasket material. What should I cut new gaskets from? Also, what is the CAT p/n just so I have it for reference - in case I find some new old stock pieces at a garage sale. Right!!

Hi W D,
from memory, the gaskets were cork, as the cover is fairly thin.
I only have a parts book for J series machines and there is a pair of covers shown on the the same page as the Gear Shift and Flywheel Clutch Control that look like them.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

I'm with Edb on this, I reckon my original gaskets were a cork material, I believe my D2 4U Parts Number book is saying the part number for the cover is T-335, which becomes OT0335, but it does not show up as available from my Cat Dealer here in Australia, nor does the gasket T-336, which is now OT0336.

I'd suggest you contact your local Cat Dealer and ask, because often those small gaskets are only a few bucks.
regards
Mike

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
