Finally got around to posting pics. Here is the history as I was given it. Bought new from Ohio Machinery in 1956 by a barge and boat dock in Toledo, Ohio. Was lifted into the holds and pushed the grain or ore to the elevator to clean up the bottom. Was used to maintain the banks with pull behind brush hog. Was sold to a former Ohio Machinery employee who installed the electric start, glow plugs, and D3 rollers and idlers. He also installed the hyd tilt cylinders for the blade. I have talked to him and he still has all the books and records of what he did to the machine. His health is bad and we are hoping to meet up soon. I plan on getting the machine running and operating. Changing the seat back to original style, using it around the farm and taking it to shows. I greatly appreciate all the help and info from this group.

I like it! Nifty set up with the electric over hydraulic tilt. It should clean up nicely. Enjoy your new dozer. JM

Would you mind posting some pictures of the D3 rollers and idlers please? I have a new set of D3 rollers to install on my 5U13753 while I have a set of large, solid D2 idlers to use. I was also considering using a set of worn-out D2 sprockets and fitting a segment ring to it so I could use the newer pitch D3 chain and thus be a little more future proofed

If these don’t work Neil let me know. This dozer still has original tracks and they are gone. Bushing worn completely and part of the pin. Mine has 33 sections. That's great thanks. Mine is as original a 32 link I believe, but I have large idlers to fit to it so that will take me to 33 links in the D2 pitch. If I go to the second pitch size for D3 chains, I suspect that might bring me back to 32

Your rails don't look to bad in the picture, but a picture can not tell the whole story. And as crazy as the world is, labor and the pins and bushings may cost more than new tracks.

Since the adapted automobile seat has a seat belt, save it. You may decide it is better option when dozing around you farm. I fully understand the not being original and looking bad if taking it to a show. In my limited use of a D2 I have had some big jolts going over very small berms. But a nice looking machine.

Thank you Ray. Yes the rails are gone. Bushings are worn completely through and into the pins. They are the original chains that came with machine when new. Customer ordered the triple grouser flat pads so it did not damage the bottom of the boats. Second owner added the weld on grouser. IDK about the seat. LOL

At one of our spring flings in Kansas a young guy running a D23J got flung out of the operators seat, over the hood and landed in front of the blade---thank God he didn't have the clutch over center and locked in!!  WEAR THE SEAT BELT !!
