When I went over to Bob Stewarts today to photo the D2 cab I found this Trackson sitting there. Notice the upper portion of the Mast has hinges so it can be folded down.

I am very curious about the unique shape of the tracks. Why would you need "rounded" tracks? I have seen pictures of those style of track before, but have never seen them in person.

those are street shoes, they tend to bow or round as you call it, it basicly like a flat steel plate with no rib or gouser bar to give it strength.

If they were always ran on soft dirt and pavement they would stay flat but when they are ran in stone/gravel, then the weight of the machine bends the edges giving them that bowed look.

The fold down mast came in at machine serial no. T2-901 around 1948-49,
the earlier loader's based on "J" model machines used standard D2 grouser track later "U" model machines used the cast steel track plates, the track plates on that loader look to have worn right through.
