How bad does the cavitation on the pre cups has to be before I would need to be concerned. These are what mine look like and I was wondering if this is something to be concerned about.

Those need to go!

That doesn't look like cavitation damage, just plain old corrosion. Cavitation damage I have seen looks like termites have been working on it making patches of neat round holes.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

I blew 5 of those back in the '70's when I was farming with my first D2. Next comes a pinhole, complete miss on that cylinder. Pressure out radiator. Never heard of antifreeze or corrosion inhibitors back then.

May not be expensive for you but Finning here wants $460.00 each

Might consider buying D4 chambers and having the thread cut down from 1-1/8" 12tpi to 1"-12tpi.
If you go for later aftermarket one piece chambers you will need to know the diameter, early s/n are smaller than later s/n's.
Last time I checked D4 chambers were pretty reasonable cost.

I reckon I paid around $US30 each for my aftermarket ones for my D2 4U, but that was about 6 years ago, things like bearings and gaskets I always buy from Cat, but everything else I hunt out aftermarket

Part # 4F5680.
Best I could find on the internet was $125 ea.
Tried Florin, they don't show as being available.
A few listed on Machinery trader.
Seems supply has dried up.
