The rear main might be the problem for a show tractor if it starts pouring oil into the clutch. If its showing no signs of that yet, it might be fine. I do know that once it starts knocking its most likely too late to just replace the bearings, so you take that chance.

Question--if a crankshaft journal--rod or main--varies say from .02 to .03 clearance, can you just install a bearing without turning the crank? would you install a .02 or a .03 bearing?
