Hello again to all, I need to pick everyones brain again. Ive got a 55 D2 5U dozer that is leaking fuel. It looks like its leaking from the bottem of the fuel filter housing. Maybe where the two bolt flange that holds what looks to be a drain tube for the housing. I was going to take the bolts out and remove that tube to start but I figured I would go on here and see if anybody has had this problem before. Thanks for your help😊

Sounds like it, either the gasket is bad or the end that boltson is warped so remove it and take a file and dress up the flat surface till it is flat and then put a new gasket on and see if the leak is gone. Get some gasket material and you can make up a gasket for it and will save running to Cat for such a small gasket and save a couple bucks.Let us know if that is the leak and if it fixed it.

There are typically two tubes coming down from under the fuel filter housing area. One is the drain for the air bleed on the housing. There is a tube that drains fuel from the injector pump housing. If your injector pumps are getting worn, they could be allowing fuel to spit down into the injector housing, which then drains out of the drain hole, through the tube to the ground. You can take the cover off the injector housing and watch the pumps while the engine runs.

But it sounds like your text is saying the fuel isn't coming directly from one of the tubes, so I'm not really sure what to think without actually seeing it.

hello again, I have a 2 bolt flange drain tube with a 3/4 plug in it coming off the bottem of the fuel tower. Its behind the pump. I took that off yesterday and saw that someone put silicone on it instead of a gasket so it was leaking. Went and got some gasket material, made a new one and no more leak. Not sure if thats a drain for the fuel tower maybe. Justin

that would be it.

The other drains mentioned are small gauge tubing and open at the ends.
