Hello every one I hope all is well. I have removed the clutch assembly from by D2 and am wondering how to get it apart to replace the disc. I have read from some previous threads that this disc should be replaced if worn down below .600 well mine measures around .530 and also am wondering if the disc is supposed to stay centered in the assembly because this one does not. you can slide it back and forth in between the pressure plates as if the center of it is worn out. the part number my book shows is 5f7434 can anyone verify if I need to replace this disc thanks!!

It unscrews but I can't visualize it in my mind to explain it now....

The pieces separate by unscrewing the spider assembly containing the brass collar and links from the front pressure plate.

There is a spring loaded knob on one of the spider legs... pull it back about 1/4'' and unwind the spider... lift off the spider and the 2 pressure plates and disc are now apart.

It's normal for the disc to have side to side movement between the pressure plates... upon reassembly you will center it between the plates by eye, and tighten the spider just enough to hold it there while indexing the engine flywheel.

I got home a couple of hours ago, just sitting down to relax and remembered this!
He is right that when you unscrew the "spider" that the plates will come apart!
Thanks!

Once you get them from Florin, could you post the manufacturers part numbers assuming they won't have just CAT part numbers on them?
A month or three from now someone else will be looking and it would be nice to have an aftermarket part number available to them.
Thanks!

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
