Thats a nice 1942-3 D2 thanks for sharing!😄
I've never seen a 3 point on a tractor.
Where does it attach?
It replaces the drawbar and mount and uses the same attachment points.
It probably will tear the threads right out of the casting. I've seen this happen to tractors with just a drawbar. I can't imagine the stress with that disc and a quick turn 180.
Better go easy, that's way to much leverage for a D2 mounting.
Does that mount tie in to the forward drawbar attachment point at all?
The mount goes under the tractor just like the draw bar and attaches with the same hardware. This 3pt places the tension on the same points that the draw bar does. When the 3pt is in the down position it is not much different than a draw bar. I will say that without the counter balance of the blade on the front the D2 would not be able to lift an implement as heavy as as disc because it rocks backwards. This setup allowed me to disc flooded weedy pasture when my wheel tractor just sank and had to be pulled out (with the D2). As far as being able to turn 180 degrees with the disc in the down position, I can't do that with a wheeled tractor either. A 3pt lets you pick up the implement to position it, that's the whole idea. 😊
How does the blade counter balance the tractor when the tractor pivots on the trunnion?
Your at the mercy of the two bolts that limit the spring from lifting off the track frame.😄
