Hello, Just a thought about wet steering clutches and brakes.
Is it possible to make that compartment use oil instead of dry?
If you use double lip seals, oil type steering clutch discs and oil
type brake lining? Fill compartment just enough to have oil level
just over the bottom of brake band drum. Splash should look
after the rest.
Has anyone done this?

There has been a bunch of them filled with diesel or kerosene😆

I believe someone said doing that on a bigger tractor showed up some leaks. I believe the new discs from general gear would operate just fine in a drive train/transmission oil bath, but you probably should check with them first.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Don't recall anybody doing that but I see no reason why it wouldn't work if you follow the criteria you describe.

If you are worried about sticking clutches get General Gear sintered bronze ones and never worry again.
I run Fiber clutches in one of my tractors, to date have not had issues. It is tarped to keep out rain and the drain plugs are drilled for condensation to drain out, plus it gets exercised at least once every 6 months.
Time and Expense to do a massive update like that on a obsolete tractor probably would not justify Cost. If this is to create a better "working" tractor I would say, spend the money on a newer tractor that ALL parts are readily available for.
