Hi all

I am rebuilding the donkey engine on my 3J but unfortunately i do not have a parts manual that covers my serial number, the closet i have is a 3J1 to 3J5000 parts book.
Cutting to the chase, I need the part numbers for:
the two crank shaft bearings
the two crankshaft seals
a pair of head gaskets

Thank you very much in advance

Same part numbers as shown in your 3J1-5000 effective with s/n 3J4878 used in 3J5001-8600.

I ordered a pair of head gaskets for my D2 5J5830 donkey engine from Finning UK for when I finally get round to stripping my donkey engine. The modern part number is 488-8155 (old number is 6F4201). Genuine Cat and were about £39 each, which I didn’t think was too bad.

The crankshaft bearings are according to my parts book: 7B3050 (flywheel side) and 7B3057 (pinion side).

Seal is 4B0818. I believe all of the above are available from Finning UK.

Most the parts are available for those motors though good crankshafts are harder to find, plus the crankshaft bearings in larger sizes, though some members here have had new bearings made.

New pistons and rings are available here in Oz in any size.

Those gaskets used to be cheap from Cat not that long ago, seems everything has doubled or tripled in price the past 10 years. It is perfectly fine to re-use those head gaskets if they are not damaged, good luck with the rebuild, there are a thousand old threads and discussions here about rebuilding them, big challenge is getting all the cooling passages cleaned properly.

That's a 7B3059 bearing (my eyes aren't any good either)
Some of those part numbers have most likely changed from original.

Hi caterpillarsam,
to enable the new age Parts People at the Dealer to be able to order and supersede these old Part Numbers WE need to add some 00's to bring the number to a 6 digit P/No so that the computer can understand what is being ordered, the Dealer newer younger Parts People do not know to do this.

For Example your L-935 becomes 0L0935 and then magically the confuser can recognise it--unless it is No Longer Available--and supersede the old number if needed.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
