I am new to the forum and am a member of the Ogema Heritage Railway Association in Ogema, Saskatchewan, Canada.

We have a 1945 GE 44 tonner locomotive we use to operate a short tourist line in the summer. It have 2 D17000 engines. It is formerly from Conway Scenic Railroad in New Hampshire and was originally #15 with Maine Central Railroad

We are currently overhauling the heads on one engine and are trying to do what we can on the injectors but parts of limited. Spray pattern s are very sloppy on all of them. I'm not a mechanic myself, but handy enough. The diesel shop that's looking at the injectors is asking for specs to provide guidance in lapping some of the surfaces. We have an operator's and parts manual and can't seem to find anything in them for this type of spec.

Any direction or comments would be greatly appreciated. Serial number on engine is 3S1102 SP.

The diesel shop clarified that they are looking for opening pressure and valve lift. Thanks

My mechanic asked if it's listed anywhere in "turns". Seems like that's what he was expecting.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
