I have a 1952-1953 D13000 with electric start pony motor. When I first started working on the motor I was told the electric start did not work, I could start it by hand cranking it. I took a look at the starter put a battery in it and pulled the electric start lever and it sounded like the bendix was just spinning not engaging the flywheel. Took the starter out thinking the bendix might be stuck on the shaft, it wasn't. It was then I noticed a round disk by the starter handle attached to a gear inside the housing and when pulled it moved the gear towards the bendix, put it back together pulled disk pulled starter handle and it was grinding like it was partially engaged, messed around with it and got it to engage, motor started. Now I still get more grinding than I should. I do not have a book for the 13000, I have never been around this setup. (I have 2 318's a 311 and a 4400) I was wondering is there any adjustment i can make? The right starting procedure? Thanks
