Got a early model d13000 marine cat, 1930s
Losing oil in reservoir of pump, from what I see the only place the oil can go is into the main engine oil because I don't see it leaking anywhere else, book shows a seal on the camshaft end of pump, I'm assuming It is worn out, I have a service manual on the engine, is this a major overhaul meaning is it something hard to do or need special tools?

Not that difficult a job, no special tools required. Pump is awkward and heavy to handle. Be sure and replace the two fuel gallery o-ring seals (one at each end) while your in there. Part #8B4967. These are the ones that allow fuel to leak into the main sump or in to the fuel injection pump sump.

8B4967 o-ring is the same as trade size dash 318.

Do you have part # for seal at end of camshaft in the pump?

Doesn't seem to be any spec on driving the pressed chambers. Says to coat the chamfered portion of the head and the seal with liquid soap and drive the chamber in place using the 2B399 driver.

No seal is used on the end of the pump camshaft. Closure is handled by the hour meter mounting flange and gasket or a blank flange if no hour meter is installed.

This is how I have done it and with success, after finding limited information elsewhere.
Install the pre cups with some sort of lube and fit the injectors and tighten them down.
Use a punch and hammer on the rim of the pre cup while tightening the injector hold down bolts.
You dont need to over do it.
Just enough to deform the diamond bottom sealing washer to seal any irregularity .
I feel any soft copper washer would work but the diamond shape aids in deformation to achieve sealing.
Good Luck With your project

Hi Team,
this was discussed recently yet again in the thread linked below.
I do not recommend driving on the lip of the pre-chamber with the injector fitted as you will be driving thru via the injector's tin dirt shield and its cork gasket.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
