It Lives Again !!!! With a little priming the 13000 took off this afternoon , excellent oil pressure , Ran the engine a good 15 minutes or so , Sounded pretty good , Seems to have a lisp on one cylinder though . tomorrow going to pull the front valve cover and check valve settings , OM or SJ would either of you happen to know the cold settings ? after checking valve settings , may look towards compression check , I also may look towards having the injectors
rebuilt, Om I cant tell you how happy I was to hear that unit come to life again ,was alot of work to get to this point , but now I can actually see this engine going back into the shovel , There will be some pictures soon ,!!
OM & SJ , thank you again , Charles Poole

The Cat spec sheet I have calls for .012" hot so cold add at least .002" more for cold setting or .014" clearance as that,s what I gave them at the Cat shop and set dozens of them and worked out well. The Cat book says the compression release setting is .025"and set it after you set the valves on that cylinder. You must set the valves with the particular cyl. your setting to be on TDC on the compression stroke and go by the flywheel numbers. The setting is 1-5-3-6-2-4 and the flywheel will be numbered as 1-6 and 2-5 and 3-4 and turn the flywheel CCW setting in the seat or the back of the flywheel.

Hi Charles,
Congratulations😊 😊 Knew you must be getting close when you asked for Mag instructions. Nothing like the sound of the D13000 coming to life. Still would like to see some pictures if you get a chance.

Hey OM & SJ , and all ,
Pulled front valve cover off the 13000 , Found a broken comp release on one rocker , So I replaced the whole rocker arm assembly because I had a spare, SJ am I correct in setting intake and exhaust at .014 cold aqnd comp release at .025 cold ? I I have the injectors that came out of the original 4S Iam going to take them to a repair shop and find out what they will charge me to rebuild them ? Any ideas on making a wrech to remove the injectors ? I think I have one injector thats dribbleing instead of spraying , Also going to have pony carb rebuilt by a resoration shop , I took it apart cleaned it couldnt get one jet out , Got it running well to start the main but cant get enough adjustment on the mixture scews to make it run right !! I am also in need of air filter element for the pony ,at one point water must have gotten into it ,the wire mesh crumbled like shredded wheat ,when i went to clean it , Maybe Cat dealer will still be able to get one ? Will keep you all posted on how I progress , OM I have a friend who is going to take photos if it ever stops raining here !!
Regards,
Charles Poole

Yes Charlie, that is correct, .014" for valves and .025" for the compression releases.I can,t remember what what size the nut is on the fuel Inj. nozzles but I,ve heard guys take a cheap 3/4" socket that fits it and cut the top off so it,s the full width and then weld a piece of pipe onto the socket to bring it up above the top of the nozle and you can cut a hole through it so you can put a bar through it or fabricate (weld) a nut on top to put a socket on it.Use a 12 point socket if your going to make up one. Forgot to say you will have to cut away some of the socket side so it will slip down over the stem coming out the side of the nozzle where the line threads to and make the notch large enough so you can turn the nut a little before you go back for another grip.

Fabricated socket pictures:
My notes say 1-3/4 in. size but check to be sure.

OM,SJ,& Bernie thanks for the info and pictures of the tools !
There looks to be a thick felt seal under the ijectors , What are the chances of useing it over just to test an injector against a miss ?
Will let you all know how I make out tomorrw night .
Thanks Again ,

This should be the injector for your engine. The gasket is just a seal to keep out the dirt....no effect on your testing.

Charlie, OM is right it,s just a dirt seal and the originals that I ever saw and replaced them were a cork gasket.

Charles,
Just saw this injector on ebay if you need one....also has a pump. Both for your engine.
