D 8800 diesel intake manifold

looks like age is not kind to these below pony engine exhaust bolt up . Looks to have cancer on bottom side. Looks like a normal issue ?

Answer my own question with further inspection . There is a freeze - type plug that is rotted on bottom side. Onward to more tweeks!

its a must for these old girls to have covers on the exhausts when parked or they rust out and you will dust the engine. as the pilot engine exhuasts through the main intake. via a internal tube.
old spin on filters from trucks work well. get the filter cut the flange off and the body makes a nice dome cover works better than a jam tin and its enviro friendlier up-cycling of a otherwise waste item.
