I need the track measurement between 3 links to check wear in the pin & bushings on a d-6 8u .

Thats not how it works. You supply the measurement from a stretched chain.
Maximum length (100% worn) is pitch (6.75 in.) plus 0.12 wear per link. Usually done over four links and five pins.
