As far as I know, the D318 only used the forged body injection pump, the housing for that is somewhat larger than the later style.

Injection pump is mounted on the "right" side of a D333 and on the "left" side of a D318. These directions are as if the engine is mounted in a dozer and you're sitting in the operator's seat. The D333 also does not have a separate intake manifold. This is cast in one piece with the head and a plate of steel bolted along the top of it to allow access to the passageway. (I unbolted that cover on a head I removed from a used engine I bought and found a substantial shop towel sucked into the intake runner of #1 cylinder. I wonder if whoever ran that engine last had any clue what the problem was!)
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
