According to my D2 5U parts book there are two filters listed. The filter element for earlier tractors (up to mid 1951) is part no. 4A332 and the later, full-flow system element is Cat part no. 9F6700. Hopefully someone can help pinpoint the year of manufacture for the D311 in your crane.

the earlier filters have a T handle on top and the later full flow filters have a hex nut with a slot in it.
the full flow filter was effective with 7S6834

take it out and compare it with a NAPA 1161. That is the full flow filter.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
