Ol Magnet , once again I need to call on your expertise , I have aquired a complete 13000 it came out of a rail crane the serial is 2U10405 I think, I also believe the engine tag says tractor engine ,But I cant be sure due to rust ,
Can you tell me the age of this unit ? and can I interchange parts from I think a newer 13000 serial # 4S 13531 , the latter being the engine out of my 38B shovel , I want to swap engine mounts , Maybe bellhousing and flywheel as the new older engine has a live pto . Ineed your input !!!
Talk to you soon ,
Regards ,

Hi Charles,
The 2U designation would be a tractor engine, that one being a 1950 model
(produced from 1946-1953)

The tractor engine would have things that an industrial engine wouldn't have like the three section lube oil pump, a different pan, engine mounts, governor (possibly), rack settings, fan, etc. but..........all of the bolt ons are interchangeable just so long as you keep track of the puzzle😄 😄

Charlie: You obviously made it back with the engines. The 2U engine was originally out of a D8 and then put into use on the rail car aparently as a replacement. Keep me posted on your progress. Steve.

Hey steve, made it back all in one peice. today I pulled the live pto off ,looks
like I am going to have to switch flywheels , I also went into the governor housing because the fuel rail wouldnt move , somehow water got in there and rusted her tight ,will probably switch injection pump housings also.
