Original plan was to leave Minnesota yesterday and head to Chads in Laramie, WY to drop of some misc extra parts for the Beardsley mucker, continue on to CA, drop off a D8 push block and the goose neck, then continue on to Seattle to visit a friend that is having cancer surgery on his liver. Then back to CA, attend to some business for a couple days, end up down at Tulare for the weekend dirt days, then back to north of Sacremento to pick up a D4 and then head home.

BUT that was only the first plan.

Due to the snow storm that had Colorado and many roads all the way thru southern Minnesota closed down I had to delay a day. I left this morning with a new plan. I headed west on the northern route headed to Seattle first to stay north of the snow. Great plan but poor execution. This after noon about 15 mile east of Miles City, Montana my duals on the passenger side passed me up. Did I mention that I had a tire fixed a few days ago on that side. No they did not come loose. They all snapped a quarter inch from the head. Sounded like a machine gun burst when they went. They also show a twist on the break, classic case of over tightening by the tire shop. Long story made short is that I am setting in a motel in Miles City tonight with "One Way" and the goose neck parked at the NAPA store waiting for me to hopefully find the right studs to fix it in the morning. Fortunately the rollback that showed up was big enough to haul the F550 and he had a attachment to tow the goose neck so I got it all off the interstate and into town in one trip. I was to pi**ed off at the tire shop to think to take a picture. Will update later as the adventure continues.

Hey OIH,

I can't take the credit for the Video, as Tom Madden passed it on to me. I just thought it would make you laugh. When things are looking bad and seems it's an uphill battle, a few seconds of laughter seems to brighten it away. Of course a few Silver Bullets can help at being silly too, LMAO... Have a better day today!!! I wish Good Upon You...

I was following a pickup down a 2-lane one time, noticed it was squatted down pretty far in the back. It was a crew cab, with a whole crew of big ol' roughnecks, plus about 8-10 truck tires
& wheels in the back...After a mile or 2, the dust & smoke started to roll out from the right rear...the tire & wheel popped out, crossed over behind the truck, passed him up, & headed down the other lane.
Good thing nobody was coming the other way, it stayed in the lane for a ways, then went off in the brush by the rail tracks.
The driver got it stopped in a little driveway pullout, & I stopped behind him...told him where his wheel went, & we surveyed the damage. It was one of those
GM "light 3/4 tons" with an 8-bolt wheel, but just a flanged axle like a 1/2-ton...the axle snapped off clean right at the bearing.
The brake backing plate was ground off flat on the bottom already.

They said they had another pickup sitting in
Fruita, which was just a couple more miles, so I gave one guy a ride to get it...
That gouge in the pavement was visible for a long time...

Explanation for how that post looks...I discovered the enter key & shift key were stuck together with a big ol' toast crumb...Oops!!!

OIH, were you driving the Exxon Valdes?

Pete? One way? You gotta explain that!

With my traveling with the military for so many years I never saw anyone loose a tire and rim until after I retired. On I94 one day there was a set of duals sitting on the shoulder a few miles east of Fargo. Then right after that I got passed by a semi on I29 that was running the right rear on the rims and they were about 1/2 worn down. I did get him flagged down. Driver had no idea that he had run both tires flat. And then just a couple of months later just east of Fergus Falls a fella hauling a gavel/sand conveyor lost the left side duals. They mashed up the front end of a pickup going the other way pretty bad. Other than that I've only seen cars and light trucks lose tires and rims.

Hope the rest of your trip is uneventful Roger!

Rick

That's as funny as the tractor video.

If that had happened to me, it would have been the computer repair shop that found the problem.

Hola OIH,

I should warn you that you need to be very careful in CA, especially around Bakersfield, there is a known terrorist there, known as Peter 'BOOM'. He is known to have a GARLIC BOMB, very dangerous I am told, also look out for any trucks that PETER built, likely to run you over. 😄😄😄😄😄

Well, it may have been a piece of tortilla chip...my wife thought it was pretty funny too, she seems to think eating at the keyboard is a bad habit. Acts superior just because her Ipad is crumb-proof. 😄

I think the tree was whipping that dumbass for abusing the tractor like that...

I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
