I was doing to some land clearing yesterday and noticed my temp gauge creeping into the red. Of course it's hot down here in Texas but after inspecting, I'm low on coolant. Thought I'd add a little and see if it solves my temp problem but my question is would you guys put in plain ole water or is there a cat coolant that would be better? My service book only speaks of water but I'm sure with today's technology, there is a better product. I don't want to harm my old engine with coolant when only water is supposed to be run in it. Any ideas?
Thanks!

The Cat coolant for your machine is called DEAC. Its an old formula but it's all I use in equipment manufactured in the 70-s and 80-s. It is mixed 50/50 with distilled water. It would be a good idea to test the pH and nitrate content of your coolant. If its out of spec., change it out. Cat DEAC and "distilled water" can give you ten years of service. If you want the latest and greatest, you can use the CAT extended life pre-mix coolant but its not going to do anything for you that the DEAC won't do.

Thanks for the info. I will search for some DEAC.
