it's good an engine is warm for draining oil...for oil and filter change..service etc..
=.does anyone notice if cold changes are suffice? esp if in no hurry? etc?
- like cracking the drainplug and see what drains first? antifreeze? water? other nastys? etc..?
Good idea if you are bringing a non running engine back to life , otherwise I would run it to working temperature so it drains out faster and because some dirt sludge will be in suspension with the oil ..

good point Cheshire, much faster draining with warm oil would help flush sludge and other undesirables from pan..
