funny enough that is how I was always taught to check the age of a cat but this is the first time I have ever seen it on here I had never known anyone to check the age of a cat by using serial numbers (most old cats are missing tags or there is a winch or scrub canopy in the way) till I joined the forum I was to embarrassed to say anything about it on here 😊

Maybe, I am just dense. Can you give me more information on how I transform these number into a manufacture date. Maybe an example with an explaination.
Old Iron, look on some of your old castings they will have the letter code, Example UUMCAL = 11-27-56 the casting date
Thanks Dan, Now it all makes sense. Another cup of coffee and an example woke me up.
Roger,
I also had no idea what this was about. You had plenty of company I am sure!
Looking forward to meeting you in UT.

I was thinking way to deep. Utah should be fun. Did you get your badge ordered?
I wonder why Cat didn't just cast the date - the code seems a bit superfluous. Like Chev and their dial - just cast the date already : )
Guys......
They did cast these dates on my Thirty transmission/rear axle case and under the engine
Have a good day......Bill![]()
