I acquired this a few weeks ago after someone had posted a notice on the bb that it was for sale on ebay. Thanks to whoever it was. I just happened to see the notice the day before I was leaving on a trip which took me right by the owner's place. I was able to look it over before bidding.
I took some rough measurements to see if this would fit on my 22. It will with some modification. I was going to build a replica of one that I had seen on a Cat 22 but this might suffice.

Does anybody know what this might have been on. It is supposed to have been sold by the dealer on a new Caterpillar? in 1938.
The outside width is 46.5" and the outside length is 56.5" (the ebay listing said that it was 64" long).
The inside width is 40.5".
The front opening is 27" wide by 16" high.
The rear is 31.5" wide by 24.5" high with another 4" high notch that appears to fit over the fuel tank cap.
I can't believe that someone would be able to take the cap off and pour fuel in the tank if the notch was right over the opening but the only diesel Cat that I could compare it with doesn't have a Cat seat tank.
Thanks for any info.
Pete
