Very nice!

May I ask what serial number that is?

I have a late model (pt4825) that had a throttle linkage very similar to that and I was wondering if it might have been original. I have two late models that both have a different dash than that machine so I'm curious about the two gauges also.

Louis,

You did a great job on the TEN. I'm wondering how the modifications came about. Did your grandfather trim the seat back from square and add the carrier rollers? I see a few other changes too. Oh, and where is the CA mid-state fair held? Not familiar with it.

Very nice wide gauge TEN but it has me puzzled I haven't seen a TEN with that gas tank filler location. You did a nice job! Skinner

Louis

I hope you will drive your 10 in the Pioneer Day parade this October 11. It is the 125th anniversary of the incorporation of Paso Robles and we are going to have a big turn out this year.πŸ˜›arty:

Thank you guys. The tractor actually has two serial numbers. the original Ten was PT3292, but the block cracked so my grandpa got another Ten PT4709 and swapped the 4709 engine onto the 3292 tractor. My grandpa bought this tractor with his pa when he was in high school and the used it to cut the edges of the barley fields with a JD No. 5 sickle bar. My grandpa and his pa, bought the Ten 2nd hand in the 40's and modified it to match their other Cats.

The original filler neck on the gas tank was removed, and patched and the filler was moved to the top of the gas tank.
The seat has been cut to match that of a Cat Twenty Two.
The fenders have been shortened to move the seat bucket forward and up over the PTO lever.
New holes were drilled to move the gauges to the other side of the dash board
A Temperature gauge from a WW2 Willy's was added
Oil filter was added
........and tons of other modifications......

If anyone is in the area she's a very unique tractor and i'd be more than happy to show 'er off.

P.S.
I have the carriage and transmission for the PT4709 Ten, The Grousers are BRAND NEW wide gauge, you can still clearly read "Caterpillar" in raised letters on them, grousers have no rounded edges. The track bushings have been rotated and show some wear, but the tracks don't have any slop between the pins and bushings. Anyway i'd like to restore this tractor to stock, red n' grey the whole nine yards, but don't have any parts for it except for what is in the pics... anyone have an engine?

With the group that says "Dad and Grandpa" modified it to be a functional machine for daily use! Then that is the way to leave it! They obviously new what it needed to better suit them. You can always look at it and see in your mind Grandpa and Dad looking at it, discussing it, then working together to modify it to suit their daily needs.
A Fine Job on a Truly Personal and Unique Machine!
Congratulations on Keeping It in the Family!
