Hello all
My name is MiloΕ‘ ČernΓ½ and you can call me Black. I am from Czech Republic and I just became the proud owner of somethink what once was Caterpillar Ten. I think that it is about seventy percent of tractor, but I desperately need anny kind of information about this machine. It is in poor condition by the way because it was used by some wise guy who put some Czechoslovak diesel engine on it (thank God, I have mostly complete, but hevyly demaged original engine) andt its stand last forty years at rain 😞. I have technical data of that crawler about diameters, pull power, years of production, simply the data obtained from internet, but What I need is help from some specialists, or guys who really understand this typ of Cat. Only one data plate on it is about transmission, but I think the engine number is 2972 if is stamped on left side of cilinder block behind the waterpump. If enyone heve some info, or links what can help me, I will be very glad for help. I was talk about my problem vith some guy from main Caterpillar showroom in Czech republic, but without anny reason 😞 I think this little Ten is only one here i Czech Rep, and I really want to renovate it. Like I said I will be verry glad for anny reply. Sorry for my english πŸ˜„

congratulations with your TEN, any specific questions about the tractor her on the board we will try to answer, any pictures of it we all like!! as i have a fifteen with a diesel engine i am interested in the way your diesel is mounted in the ten, you are lucky you have still the old original engine,
like shovel man said its good to have a parts- and a service and maintenance book, they sell after marked copys of them in the USA.
if you need parts see at the sticky posts on he top of this discussion board, like if you need a head gasket call Olsons Gaskets, if you need special parts call Jim Zimmerman, if you need a seat cussioning call John Hahn, etc.
we are looking forward for your pictures.

Thank you for your answers, I started communicating with the guy about the manual and I will send pictures tomorrow. So far, only photos of the engine and the radiator, I can not find pictures of tractor and he is still at my friends barn, so I will post pictures as soon as possible.

nice pics!
the engine is like my ten and fifteen but with some attention it will run, if its stuck put some wd40 on top, of cilinders or brake oil and after some time it will loosen the pistons from cilinders.
the crack on the top part were waterpump is you can weld with cast iron rods.
the waterpump is not original ,
from the radiator the bracket were gas tank is placed on it broke of, but if you can weld you can make new bracket.
wat about carburator and ignition?? is it with the engine??
greets Marco

Are you sure the waterpump is not original? It is possible, because there is some spacer between pump and cilinder block, but with inch threads.I puted some oil at the top of rosted cilinder, and now I can turned wilh crankshaft easily, but I will dismatle whole engine, just for sure. It may have rosted piston rings, or some demage at bearings atc. Like I said this one is only one known TEN in state (there is also Fifteen, are some patrs same?), so I must be very careful 😞 Also will be more better for welding and folowing grinding of contact surface of waterpump. My friend have a litle foundry, so I can do form of lost piece of radiator, make new one and weld it back at place. By the way Ihave no gas tank 😞 Probably I will have to make new one. Also I have no carburetor and ignition is stamped with some French plate under Bosh licention 😞 I hope It will be working. I am at very early phase of renovation, so I will be wery glad for anny kind of info what You can give to me. I need some detailed photos of engine, carb, ignition, gauges atc. at least.
Regards Black

the waterpump is for sure not original, aswell is the pulley, for v belt, original it is a adjustable pully for tensioning the belt, nice that engine is loose, i put new piston rings in my engines, and i did honing of the cilinder walls, if you can get the magneto running it will be ok , (original it was a eisseman mag) for the carburator: i had a original one but the top lid was broken , so now i bought a new one from ebay usa and made a elbow because this is a updraft (not side draft is original) and the engine is running very good on this one.
about the fifteen there is a big fifteen, wich is a bit bigger than the ten, and there is a small fifteen that was the upgrade of the ten in 1931 that had some little changes as a other fuel tank so you need to know what 15 it is, if i were you i would buy it aswell
some pictures of original waterpump and non original carb of my TEN:

Nice pictures Marco 😊 Is the number stamped at lhe left front side of cilinder block behind the waterpump engine number? And if it is can I determine the date of production from it? Today I looked at the waterpump and I think it is from some prewar Ε koda engine. I have some flange at intake manifold (for carb?)I will do some photos tomorrow and post them. Do you want to sell me your broken carb? It is no problem for me to do new top lid. ( Its only about the money which I have a little πŸ˜„) But this litle Ten is a main project for me at this time. Like I said, I bought a manual, so I think it will come next week I hope. Till that time You are my only helper 😊 Tomorrow I will call to guy from caterpillar showroom where is shown the Fifteen, maybe he give to me some info about it ( numbers, date of make atc.) I will send You. Have You some website, or Facebook profile ( there is my profile with some work what I done http://www.facebook.com/milos.cerny.9) with pictures of your TEN? Once more very thanks for yours interest and help, I really appreciate it 😊

hi Black, on both pictures you can see the serial nr of the tractor 2441, it is stamped in the transmission aswell, just under the lefthand steering clutch handle.
i dont wanna sell the carb as i am still looking for a top lid for a reasonablke price, prices here go from 250 to even higher and thats a bit to high i think, i would like a lid for 125 usd, and otherwise i try to make one myself..
here some more pics of the ten as i dont have pics of it on my face book page
