im not to sure where to post this. I'm very interested in the trucks that Cat dealers used for service trucks, especially in the 50s, 60s and 70s. I've seen Fords, GMCs and Chevys, but no Dodge or IH. Does anyone know if the IH light line/pickups were used as Cat dealer trucks? Thanks. Mark

I like the artfully arranged palm fronds : ) How often do they fall off the tree and is it a hazard? I have a willow in my front yard that I'm thinking of renaming the widow-maker....

Thanks for the replies. I love the old trucks and tractors! Great collection! I'm an absolute nut when it comes to IH and Cat. I do know that IH did build a couple semi trucks for Catepillar during the 70s. The one was a cabover Transtar that featured a 7 man cab, but its main purpose was to demonstrate the Cat 3406 and Brakesaver.

Further to your question on the makes of Caterpillar dealer service trucks, in 1975-6 I used to work with a Beckwith Machinery Co., Pittsburgh PA, mechanic who was driving a Dodge service truck with crane/tool boxes, etc. painted yellow with blue trim. Most other Cat trucks that I have seen are Ford F-450s or so.
