They are real. When I was a youngster remember seeing one at the science museum in MN. Had a big drip pan under it with oil all over and in.
I would really really really like to know where they ended up.

I'm quite certain that they put fake black hair on them and released them in the mountains all over the world. They are still running wild and are occasionally seen by unsuspecting hikers. They now need a grease job badly as they seem to emit almost human like screams as their joints move. :loco::loco:
