I am looking for a few part numbers on a No.1 Terracer or No. 4 Hi-Way Patrol. I have been unable to locate the part numbers from the later Preco parts books as the parts had been updated and changed from bolt on to welded. Looking for the part number(s) of the lower pivot on the mold board blade. Picture attached shows the later style welded mounts noted in parts book, and the other the bolted / riveted bracket. Any help would be great!

Thank you,
Ryan

I have the full parts book line on the #4 Hi Way Patrol at home I will take a look. What is the serial # of yours. Come on down to Carlinville, Il Memorial weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for the Macoupin Co. Historical Societies Fall Festival. If all works out I will have my Hy-Way Patrol (with terraceing wheels) out there with my 22.

Pivot bracket - 1D5624 for the 8, 10 and 12 foot. 1D6131 for the 6 and 7 foot. I tried to take pictures of the page but my camera was not good enough for them to be clear. I couldn't scan them without ruining the book.

Truckun95,
Brewzer gets points on this one. The numbers he gives are in both my Caterpillar parts books. The first one (form P-1554) is effective 3D1 to 3D200, the second (form 5522) is effective with 3D201 with no end effective number. The Preco No. 4 Hi-Way Patrol book (form 30122) is effective 3D1301-up. Not sure if another book should be in this list or not. The Preco book does have a different pivot bracket shown as your post shows. Hope this helps or adds to the mystery.

Doing a quick look between these three books I see that the major change between the Caterpillar books and the Preco book is that the rear axle is not adjustable side to side on the Preco as it is on the Caterpillars. The square part on the rear axle on the Preco is 45 degrees of that on the Caterpillar without the cogs welded to it. ALS to note the Preco book is the first to show the terracing style disk wheels, though mine is serial # 3D1048 with a Caterpillar tag and has this style wheel. Not knowing the history of my machine I dk not knownif I came from factory this way or was a later change over. I purchased mine at an Aumann thanksgiving auction when they where at the fairgrounds in Taylorville, Il (along with my 22, they where a trailer full together). Thought I would throw this out there to make ya all go hummmmmm.

Thank you Rod,

Certainly helps, on early models the pivots were riveted on and later welded. I was not aware of the rear axle. I can not remember but if I remember right the terracer did not have the movable rear axle, instead it was a fixed axle. The Hi-Way Patrol grader had a adjustable rear axle.

Rod does yourshe have two identification plates on the left side? Possibly one larger one and a smaller one for the serial number? I believe the identification plates varied over time and from manufactures.

Thank you

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
