Using Cat equipment, a huge tree was moved to a new location rather than being cut down in League City Texas.
Very interesting write-up, video and photo gallery.

I posted it on my blog at: http://everythingengines.wordpress.com/

Will do ---- LOL.

Hopefully it will last a long time. They've spent big $$$$ moving it.
It's like our small town,,,,,,spends a lot of money keeping the old town hall going because it's a landmark!

Cheers,
JC

Interesting video.
It seems odd they pulled from the front of the two dozers with wire ropes over the top of the blades, why not from the rear drawbar ?

Yup complete waste off time, Oaks are not known to survive transplant well, even when the people know what there doing and preserve the root ball past the drip line. As for the depth, they must have thought it was a pine. lf it survives and it a huge if, it will be in shock for so long it will be decades before it flourishes
