Google up "glyptal paint" and you can read all you want on it.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

I read a quick article by some hot rod enthusiasts and the consensus was it's not worth it, especially for used block where there are greater adhesion problems. Of course your mileage may vary : )

I use red insulating varnish on the insides of the engines I rebuild. It dries nice and hard and stands up to oils well and doesn't wash out when parts are run through a hot tank. This is the same stuff that is found on electric motors to seal the windings.

Thanks guys for your input my only real concerns is rust when the machine sits for a few months but i guess oil on the insides might prevent that from happening

Hi Justin,
at The Dealer we tried to buy some way back when and could not source it local.
It is primarily used to seal in any missed casting sand and seal up any small porous areas of casting.

We never bothered as we reckoned after the hot tank and steam clean that the sand would be gone and the outer paint would seal the casting--never recall any feed back of weeping castings in 40 odd years.
I think GM did some tests and decided not to continue with its use years ago.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
