New to me caterpillar Dozer D7E wanted to know how to remove oil pan protection cover (285 pounds) and to lower to ground and lift pan in place. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Reasonable to do with good floor jack, raise up to pan with a little pressure, take out the bolts, lower pan and pull out from under tractor, replace reverse sequence.

I too have to do this to mine in the spring time here for a clean out and inspection.
I saw another member do it to his on this forum with two big ratchet straps around the hood and hard nose and the he just lowered it down. Not sure how well it worked but he got it done.

The oil pan protection housing has a slope to rear of Dozer, I can't visualize straps holding with such a smooth surface. If the protection housing had guides to retain the housing that would help, unfortunately that is not the case. If you find a video please let me know. Thanks for responding.

I have helped lower the a belly pan several times with chain and cable come along. You have one front and one in back. We work one to let it down some then the other. The only problem I remember is did not leave enough cable on the ratchet the first time we did it. Had to rest it on blocks so we could adjust.

No harm no foul on let it down if it falls, when you start letting it down. Just get out from under it when you get the last bolt out. If it slides on cable when letting it down weld whatever you want it to use as lift points to lift it.

We had come along and chain hooked to the track as we did not have a ROPS to attach to.

Nice machine! late style ball joint blade, nice shape! I hook a come-along on the sweeps[limb risers] and run the cable down under the pan and back up to the other side to lower the pan. Can use two if you want. What town you from?

Thanks for the input. My pecan orchard is located in Hessmer and my home is in Abita Springs Louisiana. I have a daughter in your state and she resides in Westerville.
