There has been a great deal of debate on oils here. Modern oils are all good. Oil is cheap compared to the price of parts!
Important! Use only AW ISO 32 hydraulic oil in the hydraulic system. The D6B hydraulic pump is not available from any source.

I was in a rush this morning and didn't add this page. Caterpillar recommends SAE 30 oil for the final drives but I run SAE 50 in mine.
BTW The ACMOC library has ALL of the books available for your D6B, even for the hydraulic and blade etc. There are even sales brochures! You need to be a "paying" member not just a "user" to access them.

Where are you located? My buddy's buddy has a D6B which is probably going to the scrapper. Engine was allegedly resleeved and the owner ran it for some unspecified number of hours and then parked it over winter. Engine seized (not even a crow bar on the ring gear will turn it) and owner said he drained gallons out of the crankcase so the crank is probably seized to the bearing shells. I suspect the rebuilder omitted a seal or something because the exhaust pipe had a cap on it. Anyhoo, it's in Rochester NY.

I am looking for more parts for mine. Sheet metal that covers the slack adjusters, Hyd cylinders for the blade and a radiator grill. have any of those??

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
