Hello all ! Just signed up. I have purchased a D6 8U10071 and not sure exact year ? maybe you guys can tell me ? Anyway spent about 6hrs split between 2 days and got her running. Everything seems to be in good order except the blade will lift the machine completely off the ground but won't lift above the dirt. Any ideas were to start ? Thanks !

could be the rams bypassing internally. if they feel hot that may be the issue.

these do have a float position for the hydraulic control. are you sure your working the lever the right way and not going into float.

there is separate parts and service books for the hydraulics etc they were sold ex production line as a bare crawler tractor and then the accessories were fitted as like a dealer option.

what the rods like in the rams is the chrome scored pitted or rust spotted if it is then a re rodding is in order its a simple job for almost any machine shop. they can spin the rod in the lathe machine through the weld holding the rod eye on the shaft and then machine a bit of bright chrome shaft to suit. reassemble with new piston seals and vee packs in the gland job done. if the ram wont lift it could be a busted piston some these old girls had valves in the piston and they can fail. it may also just be bad seal on the piston.

it could also be a problem in the pump unit valve body but check the rams first thats the simple thing to fix.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
