Hello Byron
I have known about the D4 for many years,it came from the same place as my 933G.
During the paint strip,I uncovered the green paint along with some markings.having plenty of yellow and red machines,I decided to put it back into green.
Had to do a fair bit on the D4 as the pony had not run for at least 10 years. The mag was overhauled and the pony giver a good seeing to.
The running gear is in very good condition,as you know this can be a very expensive item to sort out.
This dozer was used by its previous owner but was allways tow started. The diesel runs very vell and has a clear exhaust. It was a tight squeeze to get it up my driveway, half an inch clearance with the blate tilted.
It will be taken to various events and hope to raise some funds for a cancer charity.
Next job is a 1942 TD6.then an overhaul of my Fordoson N as it was last done in 1981.That is also a wartime machine from 1943,still with its log book.
Regards
Martyn

That is a good looking D4 Martyn. I hope sometime to resto a D4 myself.
Have a good day......Bill
Thats a nice looking tractor!
Great Job!
Looks like you have made some real effort into restoring it.
Martyn,
Great job on the D4.
Drab is the word, but in the right context it sure is not drab at all.
Thanks everyone. It is not the easiest machine to rub down for a repaint job.Much easier to do a straight crawler.I liked the look of this dozer when I went to view my 933 prior to purchace. It looked a good sound and complete machine.I have had it just over a year now.Took it to its first event last August.Photo shows my Fordson Power major and Cat 933 G along with the D4 at Pontypridd after the event and on their way back home.

A great job Martyn, and a nice picture. I was glad to see the picture as I recently found a Laplant-Choate manual for a 4-R Trailbuilder tucked into some Cat manuals I purchased. It is a combination operator, service and parts manual. The pictures in it appear to be identical to yours.
