Found a nice little D2 the other day.
Price was right and it was close to home so I decided to go ahead and buy it.

Machine was sitting for a few years, so I was concerned it would be locked up.

Someone took the carb off the pony motor so I knew the only chance I would have to start it would be to give it a push.
We drained the old fuel out of the tank and added 5 gallons of fresh diesel.
Gave it a little push and it started right up!

The undercarriage looked pretty good to me.
Someone added a 6 way blade to it.
Has a PTO
3 point hitch
A bucket
electric pony start
alternator

Not sure if this is 12 volt or 6 volt.

The serial number I found on the machine was 9965 I think it is a 1952 5U
The serial number on the engine is 404111

The problems that I have found so far are:
I am looking for a carb for the pony.
Need a fuel tank for the pony.
The steering clutches are stuck.

Here are a few pictures. Please let me know what you think and if you have any advice or information!

I like it, looks really well built. Clutches might free up if not clutch job is pretty straightforward

Looks like another loader/blade unit mentioned about a dozen threads ago:

http://www.acmoc.org/bb/showthread.php?30306-D2-serial-5U-7072

I had never heard of them before reading the aforementioned thread.

The whole thing looks great and with an alternator I'd think the electrical system would be 12V.

S/N = 4U4111.

Looks like a very tidy machine!
It is a 4U (narrow gauge) chassis though, not a 5U (wide gauge 50" center of sprocket to center of sprocket)

Just looking at it i would guess it to be very nose heavy and hard to finish grade with. Even straight blade D2s are hard to finish grade without lots of oopie-doos. There are larger diameter front idlers that help some. Maybe yours has those but its a bit hard to tell.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Six volt system.
The basic framework is for a Trackson L2 loader (wide gauge is a LW2). I'm not aware of Trackson making the blade option. Production was pretty limited, 419 L2 units and 418 LW2 units built.

Thanks d2gary!
Do you have a link to some instructions for that clutch job?
I was told it is not an easy task.

There's plenty of info if you use the search at the top right of the forum page. Last one I did was listed as another set of stuck d2 clutches . Neil has a thread also called d2 master pins check my understanding that has a lot of good info. Neil's really put up a fight so just about everything is covered in his thread

All in all not really a technically difficult job (because everything is designed to come apart) but sometimes the rust and the fact that they haven't been apart for 50 plus years is challenging If you get stuck just ask lots of folks ready to help

Somebody smarter than me might put up the links but easy enough to find
