Hi All,
Nothing is to far gone, it just depends how rare it is, and how much time you want to spend on it.

I have rebuilt stuff that others would of scraped.

Located near Moscow Idaho. Certainly could be fixed, I meant that it was to far gone for me. I have also resurrected much worse but this would fall to about project 100 down on my list of projects. Guessing Hercules, flathead 6 engine. Did not see any signs of the header.

The JD version of the 36B used a Hercules engine. Never worked on one so no idea of the model, but a whole 36b here if anybody real wants one.

I have got a 36A JD with a JXC Hercules I ran it 3 years in oats and wheat plenty of power no problems I still have a spare engine for just in case. The JXC was 280 cubic inches, the JXD was 320 cubic inches we ran one of them on a 3 cylinder CB HAY Bean Harvester it was alright not much power to spare 17afarmer

17AFarmer: There has been mention of bean harvesters among many recently(maybe because its dry bean harvesting season). I have not farmed dry beans before, but we have leased acreage out to bean farmers in the past. I am curious as to the different sizes of machines. I usually hear of the CB Hay "Big Bertha", but what other sizes did they make? And didn't some machines have to have a third cylinder to handle really stringy straw from Limas? I am amazed to see quite a few of these old machines still in action, and best part is many of them still get pulled with a Caterpillar crawler. I didn't mean to take away from the Cat combine/JD 36 conversation. Now that we are seeing cooler weather, time to break out the crockpot and make some baby lima and ham hocks! JM
