You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, Nbrown.
Welkum too ther 4um.
Your location would probably help in giving you a ball park figure for that 28 as values vary quite a lot in different places around the globe.
Just my 0.02.
I'm in Plymouth CT
The 28 is the newest of the Twenty series, it started as a Twenty, then the Twenty five and then the 28 with minor changes. If its wide or has accessories it adds to the value. The condition of the tracks and UC also makes a difference, posting a few pictures will help a lot.
Also check the manifold for condition and check to see if the engine is stuck,
I have a wide one in my shop with the engine on a hoist as I type this reply.
Here are a few pictures that I could get when I was last there. It appears the previous owner backed it in I'm told 30 plus years ago to but the blade on and really never went any further then getting it lined up. After moving things that were all around it and piled on top I found the hand crank. It did turn so I thought that was encouraging. Hoping to have it home by the end of the weekend.

Also if anyone might have use for the blade let me know. I'm sure we can work something out.![]()
A Mill and a Shaper in the left of those photo's. Quite the collection of Treasure!
If the opposite side of the tractor looks as good. I'd say you done exceptionally well to acquire it! As old Gas tractors are typically found in some shade of rust and faded yellow! Good to see the blade project was never finished, no sense in tearing up a Good Ag CAT!
Thanks. This was a 47 acre property of three generations that never went to the dump and by the looks of it were rather handy. I don't know where to start with what I saw there.
A cat 28 eight is fairly rare. They did not build a lot of them. Nice that it is inside and will probably run without a lot of trouble. If I was there and the price was reasonable, it would already be in my shop. Well, maybe not right away as my shop looks about like what you see in the photos plus. LOL. Scrap price is always a starting point. Dandy Dave!
Need some closer photos, especially of the exhaust manifold. What's that shiny silver gadget underneath the water pump? I'm guessing the hydraulic pump that he never got around to using?
Measure the distance across five track pins and the members will tell you how worn it is. Potentially useful for negotiating.
So I got it out of the building. Any info would be appreciated. 4F1093 is from the tag on the engine.![]()
