that would be fine on both counts. i would use those filters better than a reusable strainer. if in doubt about oil ask your chosen oil companies tech advice service for a recommendation.

This will help with your oil filters, I use 90w140 gear lube and 30 weight in engine, I typically use it for summer fun, not cold weather use., I would recommend removing and cleaning oil sump, I am usually shocked by what I find

To be clear , to use the fram filters you have to make the bushings and buy a 2 springs, but a simple way to use modern filters.
Hi Steve, would you happen to know any applications of a bypass filter to the Twenty-Two? My cousin's doesn't have any filtering arrangement which irks me. Since it doesn't do a lot of hours, it takes a while to get to the 20 or 50 hour mark or whatever the oil change interval is, but the thought of the possibility for chunks floating around in there does not instill a huge amount of confidence : )
No direct knowledge however I have seen aftermarket filters added to many tractors,, it can be as simple as a t in the oil pressure gage line going to a spin on filter bolted to the fender and then discharging back into the crank case. Many old engines have nothing more than a screen, same for old airplanes. I like a filter for good measure.
