I did some searching on the forum and didn't come up with much. I'm trying to loosen the tracks on my 25 and I was wondering how you go about it. The all thread is messed up, do you unscrew the nut on backend of the spring to release the tension on tracks? Also is it possible to put piece of round stock in the sprocket and back to tractor up to tighten Springs and cut the bolts off and drive the tractor forward and release the tension to remove the spring assemblies so I can install new all thread in them? I have a service manual but it is pretty vague on explaining how to remove tension springs.

Track master pin removal , I noticed my master pans have a plug-in them and not a cotter pin how do you go about removing them ? I'm guessing they are a newer track because the book says I should have a cotter pin in the master link. Thanks Ian

about master pin: mabe it is a same as i discovered on one of my machines:
it was a holow end pin, and the end was split, with a tapered pin driven in it, to make it tight in the link, the other side of this end pin was open and it was closed i think with a cork plug.
so i was posible to take that cork out and then drive from that open side a litle pin in it and hitting it with a hamer and so drive out the tapered pin and the end pin becomes loose then in the track link,
unfornutialy i dont have pics of it ...

mabe you can post a picture here so we can see was you have.

about the springs: carefull Always as there can be tension on them!!

is it per side with 2 springs and tensioners like the cat Ten? mor 1 tensioner in the middle?
what i did with a messersi some time ago was cutting the bolt in 2 and so i could remove it and drove a treath cutter over the rusted treath. but i did it without the track on it....
some pics of the situation is easyer to understand your problem with the bas treaths
