i have a question about oil dripping from the fan shaft of my thrty while its running. i figured their must be packing or a an oil seal around the shaft but after looking at the parts manual i dont see either one. thought i had better ask before taking it apart. is oil dripping while its running common on these or is there a fix? what seals the oil or is there any seal? its not a bad drip but it makes it way to the fan blades and after that its everywhere. thanks a million, eric

if i am not mistaken, there is a drip hole in the housing that holds the bearing, if this hole gets clogged then the oil will not be able to run back into the housing but leak out the front.

For some reason I haven't been able to log on to this site until today after many tries so my response is not timely. I have had good luck replacing the outer bearing on thirties and sixties with a sealed bearing thus eliminating the oil that usually seeps out around the fan shaft. RT

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
