Does anybody live near Black River Falls, Wisconsin?

While traveling through Wisconsin on my way to Minnesota to get my Caterpillar, we took a wrong turn down I-90W when we should have stayed on I-94 to Eau Claire. To get back to I-94 we cut up Rt-27 from Sparta to Black River Falls. Right when we got back to I-94, on the left hand side of the road before the exit, there was a Caterpillar tractor dealership or rental company. In front of their building is a steam locomotive and behind the locomotive is a flat car loaded with 3 antique caterpillars!! I didn't get a good look at them but there were 3 different sizes with the smallest probably a Ten. I should have stopped and taken a picture, but we were already behind schedule. Does anybody live in that area and can stop in and take a picture of the loco and Cats for me??

Here's a Google Maps view of the area:

Wow, I feel like we just viewed a briefing at NSA headquarters! Great photos and highlights. The B-17s will start their bombing runs just after the P-51s strafe the ack ack emplacements.

I have been past Black River Falls several times. If I am not mistaken, there is a casino nearby, so the "display" doesn't suprise me. I also know there is a race track somewheres around there and I recall seeing a D4 7U and a 112 or 212 grader parked out back. All of this from the seat of a truck whizzing by on the interstate at speed. There is a lot of nifty looking iron out there if you turn your head 90 degrees to the left or right. (The problem is the exit ramp is never convenient.)

Brad and Bruce, these machines and train belong to the owner of a local construction company. They are easier seen while traveling south on 90. I have been somewhat close up to them, some time in the past. I did have a photo of them, but not sure where it is. I have a friend that has a cabin near there. I will see if he has any pictures I can get or take one. Pretty impressive. I wish I could have somthing like that in my yard.

Thanks for the link. I tried to view it from Google "Street view" and the closest view is from the main drag, and it is not even clear what is on the train other than grey and yellow blobs. They look like a class outfit.

Thanks for the link John. I might try to send the company an email and ask for a photo.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
