Cat sightings

As I was out and about “prairie farming” today

I saw the D4 near one of our properties. Lousy photo, as it was parked in the shade. It’s set up to dig grape stock for prop ovation. Interesting set up with the air cooled engine.

Next door, the neighbor had a pair of big machines deep rip/slip plow an 80 acre field that was previously planted to cling peaches.. They have a local vendor fuel these machines daily.

I have never seen a tree digger shoe on such a small narrow tractor before. Kinda cool to see one on a D4.

Let's see what everyone else may have spotted during their week!

D8H started at our shop today, then the mechanics were here all afternoon working on this loose track.

Juiceman - that is some set up with the Deutz on the nose of that D4, but look at those added on Grousers, bolted to the track plates! Those big Cats get mighty thirsty, sure glad I do not have to pump fuel with the old style hand pumps of yesterday. D7's were thirsty enough!

Anthony, I am assuming the sheepsfoot is an attempt to break the monster clods from slip plow or deep ripping?

Yes the D10 and slip plow was there last month, plus the added compaction you get from scraping adds up to some dining table sized clods in places.

Interesting use of the sheepsfoot - I've always seen them being used to compact ground

The platform and engine out front on D4 is very much like the first walnut shakers here on the hillsides. An excentric wheel with cable and rope sling to not damage the bark.
