Some log cutting action from New Brunswick Canada.

Hopefully you can see it and smell the sawdust.  😊

Great video. I noticed the"catcher" wasn't wearing gloves. My hands would have looked like a porcupine without gloves. Must be a good sharp saw.

Hi, Folks.
Yer know, I could ALMOST be fooled inter thinkin' he's done that before.

But I wouldn't give two paltry pinches of pickled possum poo for the cranking style on that pony motor.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I think most people start out cranking that way until they get one good kickback and then change their method---I know i did!

Last time I was involved with sawing logs was about 35yrs ago. I cut some 24" dia Hemlock logs on my farm and dragged them up to my uncles old Frick sawmill. He powered it with his Farmall "H" that thing was really worked hard going though that old Hemlock. I don't think his blade was that sharp too.

one of our club members has a single cyl marine engine that will run either way, you can change direction by interrupting the ignition.

to start it you would place a dowel in the flywheel and crank it. well one day he was starting it and it fired backwards came around and broke his wrist.
so he "fixed" it by mounting a starter motor with skateboard wheel to friction drive against the fly wheel, you wont kick back on me again you bastard.

"i reject your reality and substitute my own" - adam savage. i suspect my final words maybe "well shit, that didnt work"

instead of perfection some times we just have to accept practicality

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
