Here's a picture of my Caterpillar no. 4 road patrol. This one has the forward controls, for those of you that have been to shows and been to view other collections is this a uncommon option. I have not seen another one like it, just wondered. I was going to post it under the drawn grader section below but I guess I cant post there.

Hi, CHFarms.
Unless I am much mistaken, that grader was designed for use with a side seat crawler, allowing the crawler operator to control the grader as well.

Just my 0.02.

CHFarms,
What you have is a No. 4 Hi-way Patrol with front control group. As Deas Plant states this group allows control from the pulling machine, or side seat caterpillar. The serial number should start with a 3D prefix. I own the three book series ofarts books for these machines. The first book goes to 3D200 (form P-1554). The second book is effective with machine 3D201 (form 5522), this is the book with your front control group 2B150. The third book is effective with machines 3D1301 and up, this book is listing it as a Preco No. 4 Hi-way Patrol. So I am questing 3D1301 is when Preco International started producing the grader under Caterpillar license.
I too have an No. 4 Hi-Way patrol serial number 3D1048 that is also an odd bird, as mine has terracing disk wheels all the way around. My wheels show up in the third parts book but not before. I have picture of mine and the parts page for your group that I will put on when I get to a computer.

Time for a Beavis and Butthead type snicker here.

Hopefully, they are in a well-ventilated space, and are not the loud or squeaky type. :biggrin1:

Sorry it was a little of both spell check and brain farts in the proof reading. Hope I didn't stink it up too much.

Hope i do not fart this one up too. I finally got the computer going to upload the pictures. The first picture is the parts book page for the front control group like the grader that started this post. The second and third are the front and back pages of the No. 4 Hi-Way PAtrol spec sheet. The third picture is of my grader with terracing disk wheels. Hope these help and sorry for my typo in the prior post.
