One of these days I'll need to buy myself a proper hydraulic push puller, what do these things sell for typically, I guess the price is influenced greatly by the number of adapters that come with them.

Mike you can get the kind with spring return lots cheaper, the pump is cheaper as well. Make your own adapters

I suspect that Mike is thinking in terms of being able to push as well as pull - or pull as well as push - with whatever unit he may buy. In other words, a double-acting unit.

You may need to 'talk nicely' to Gavin84W about wunna these jiggers. It WILL take a fair lump of 'drinking silver' and he may just 'know somebody' or 'something' that might help.

Yes, adaptors will affect the price and so will the ackshull unit that you buy. I think there are a couple of different sizes and I doubt that you have a whole herd of D11's that you have to take care of. Do you? If not then a smaller one would suffice.

Nice to see you home safely Andrew, I thought Wombat might have sent you off to some dodgy spots in America looking for old crawlers and you wouldn't get home.

Neil said you pulled a 2 Ton fuel tank out of the scrap bin for me, that was very kind of you, I need a hydraulic rig that will allow me to pull and push things like sprockets on D2, D4, and RD6, so the more attachments it has the more value it has. How much do I want to pay, $50 would be beautiful for a good set, but I'm not that stupid to think that is what I'll get one for, I'm coming down to Melbourne Airport next Thursday so PM me a price you are thinking and I might do a detour.

I have 12 ton, a 25, & a 100 ton 10,000 psi cylinder, all of them are single acting hollow ram with an internal spring to close the ram as fluid is released. Most of them are female threaded inside the ram, so you can push or pull by turning the unit around. They can be had with threads on the outside barrel as well. I made an adapter for one to remove and replace D2 sprockets. Look up SPX, the spin off from OTC on the hydraulic side. Use a common 10K hand pump and a pressure gauge. I also have a brand new 100 ton double acting OTC unit that I will use for Gas 50 sprockets, once I make the adapters. These regular off the shelve units are easy to find new or used, and I don't have to "heat, beat, and pray" to remove a simple sprocket or gear. I have pulled large bushings into place, and even removed a very large & heavy flywheel from an Ajax oil field engine. Of course it helps if you know a machinist. It would be nice to have a factory Cat unit, with a full set of adapters, I just haven't stumbled into any.
